Muslim funerals: Why is the coffin/body covered over with a metal plate or concrete?

Salam for you my dear tom..No, the tradion in muslim funeral the corpse is buried without coffin or metal plate or concrete. The body should be covered just only with white cloth(shroud) 3 times after the corpse be bathed. and be prayed..The corpse will be brought in the coffin to the cemetry, but it should be brought again home after the corpse is buried. In hadith we are not allowed to make wall on the tomb and to build a building on it.The corpse should be headed to the direction of Kabaa. We can put just only a stone as the sign of the tomb .Subhanallah in Islam the funeral is cheap and easy.
