Must the family literacy programming provide interactive literacy activities between parents and children (also called PACT)?
The MFLC is funded by the Office of Compensatory Education of the U.S. Department of Education under the Even Start Statewide Family Literacy Initiative, and the definition of family literacy services that guides our work is the four-component of definition that appears in federal legislation. Interactive literacy activities between parents and children are a required component and must be provided by one or more of the collaborative partners in this pilot project.
