Have you tried expressing breast milk and using that until he is used to drinking from a cup? I had to start weaning from the breast by putting breast milk into a bottle with a nipple similar to the spout on the cup and once he took that then slowly I exchanged the bottle for a cup with a silicone spout (which felt similar to the nipple on the bottle), then slowly I would exchange parts of breast milk for whole milk until eventually it was all whole milk. After a short time he took any cup with a variety of liquids. Also, when I started weaning, I let him have one of my gowns, which he held to his cheek while he drank his milk (a comfort measure.) I hope this is helpful for you.

Leave the sippy cup out 24/7. Fill it with juice once a day (watered down) and with milk or water the rest of the time. If he’s thirsty he’ll know where to get it.
