I am not completely certain, but I was told that it is because of the muscular build of the breed. Simply put, there is no where else for it to go and it doesn’t automatically mean the dog is ‘excited’. Our American Bulldog, Bruno, does the same things when he sits. We had him neutered (not in any way an attempt to “fix” this but because we have no intention of breeding him) and it had no effect. This is something you will just have to learn to live with.
