My bearded dragon hatchling wont eat… what do i do…?

My husband had a really small bearded dragon a few years ago. It was not eating like it should so we went to the pet store to ask what to do. They make a gel type stuff that has a lot of vitamins and minerals that they need in it. He would put a little on it’s nose area and the lizard would lick it off or he would open it’s mouth and put a little in multiple times a day. He would also stick it in a little bit of water in the sink to try to get it to drink and if that didn’t work he had to syringe the water slowly into the lizards mouth.
