The amount of time needed to renew your CFI certificate depends on whether you choose to process your renewal using Gleim's ACR processing service or by visiting an FAA FSDO. If Gleim processes your renewal, here is what needs to happen before your expiration date, along with any potential delays associated with each action: Action Delay Complete the FREE Study Unit 1 and purchase Gleim's FIRC + the $25 ACR service This step should not take long, provided that there are no unforeseen problems Send in your signed FAA Form 8710-1 and notarized Official Identification Document, along with your original CFI certificate The length of time required for shipping using the U.S. Postal Service or a faster carrier, such as FedEx or UPS (2-day or next-day air) Study and pass FIRC Study Units 2 through 16 The length of time spent studying the study units. more
