This is one of the most challenging aspects of this job! Please remember our school library has books for Kindergarten age as well as eighth grade under one roof. This means the older students sometime check out books from the story book area but it also means that a younger student can check out a book that contains harder words and is not age appropriate. We make every effort to monitor the students as they check out, ther are times when children leave with books that are not the best match for them. There are times we question a selection and are told by the student “My mom told me to get this book so she can read it to me” If you child continues to bring home books that you don’t feel are appropriate, please email me and I will put a note stating your concerns and will TRY to monitor your child more closely.
