Genital warts are caused by a virus. They are spread by way of skin to skin contact. Sexual contact is one of the ways this virus is spread, but the virus can also be transmitted from mother to infant during a vaginal birth. I beleive it is also possible for a child to self spread the virus by touching thier genital area when warts are present on thier hands. You don’t mention your childs age. If this is a very young or an older child who is not sexually active, then sexual abuse should CERTAINLY be considered. What did the childs pediatrition say? Was he conserned? If this is a child under 18 you and the childs Doctor SHOULD be concerned.

I would say, it depends on what type of virus she was diagnosed with. I pray for you and your child sake this was not caused by sexual abuse. There are ways to check for sexual abuse. Did her doctor do a full pelvic exam? I copied some info from WebMD for you. I hope this: There are two types of HSV. HSV type 1 causes cold sores (also called fever blisters) on the lips. HSV-1 is generally spread by kissing or by sharing eating utensils (such as spoons or forks) when sores are present.HSV-1 can also cause sores around the genitals. HSV type 2 causes sores in the genital area (genital herpes), such as on or around the vagina or penis. HSV-2 also causes the herpes infection seen in babies who are delivered vaginally in women who have genital herpes. HSV-2 is generally spread by sexual contact. HSV-2 can sometimes cause mouth sores. In rare cases, HSV can infect other parts of the body, such as the eyes and the brain.
