My daughter has just been diagnosed with genital warts. Is this the result of sexual abuse or is their other reasons?
Genital warts are caused by a virus. They are spread by way of skin to skin contact. Sexual contact is one of the ways this virus is spread, but the virus can also be transmitted from mother to infant during a vaginal birth. I beleive it is also possible for a child to self spread the virus by touching thier genital area when warts are present on thier hands. You don’t mention your childs age. If this is a very young or an older child who is not sexually active, then sexual abuse should CERTAINLY be considered. What did the childs pediatrition say? Was he conserned? If this is a child under 18 you and the childs Doctor SHOULD be concerned.
I would say, it depends on what type of virus she was diagnosed with. I pray for you and your child sake this was not caused by sexual abuse. There are ways to check for sexual abuse.
