Perhaps, Try the patches mentioned in this Dell support document: http://premiersupport.dell.com/us/en/kb/document.asp?nav=Knowledge_Base&DN=TT1064445 Also make sure that you have your DVD drive set to DMA mode not PIO mode. A DVD drive can also stutter if is has a hardware defect.
