First check your wheels to be sure they spin freely. Next try bending the gear forward 2 inches or more (using a vise is best, but you can do it at the field by hand if you must). Be careful to preserve the “toe in” angle of the axles so it will track well on the ground. If you’re still having trouble, your field may be really rough and you may be having trouble flaring for landing. If you can’t flare nicely at low airspeed, try moving the CG back gradually and possibly giving yourself a little bit more elevator travel (be careful, as snap rolling in turns and loops will result with too much elevator travel). If this happens in landing only, then you’re probably touching down with too much speed, so practice your flare so you can glide it down and keep applying up elevator until it just falls onto the runway the moment it stops flying (very slow, almost at “trainer landing speed.”) return to top • How do I do a rotolanding?
