You should probably start out with helping him not run away from birds. Go to a game farm and ask for a chukar, quail, or other small bird to train him with. You can also start with a wing, which places like Cabelas sells. Anyway, what you want to do is get him to investigate it, and praise the heck out of him when he does- really get excited like he just discovered a new world or something. Let him play with it but not use it as a chew toy. It’s probably good he’s not interested in deer, geese, etc as you don’t want him to chase those animals! Work with birds. You can also get live birds…people here won’t want to talk much about this so you should find a good hunting dog source.
