Goofing off has its place – older Christians call it fellowship – but, you’re right, it’s not enough. People of this age seem to have a special aptitude and desire for service projects. Ground yourselves in a Bible study of the early church – there are lots of details in the Book of Acts – and Ephesians also provides a good start. Then walk your immediate neighborhood looking for places in the neighborhood that are in need of prayer. Add prayer for those places to your Bible study, and a service project of depth and value should become obvious.
