Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) Distribution Service Will Mayo Clinic Tobacco Quitline give out patches, gum or prescription medications to help people stop smoking?
Yes. The Coast Guard has included NRT distribution as part of its contract with the MCTQ. Patches, lozenges and gum will be provided to eligible enrollees in the Tobacco Quitline Program if NRT is recommended for their quit attempt. The counseling service and NRT distribution will be at no cost to the enrollee. Medications such as Zyban™ or Chantix™ will only be prescribed by a primary care manager and WILL NOT be dispensed by MCTQ.
