We now use alternative solutions to store the grafts in. We used to use “normal” or physiological saline but that hasn’t been proved to be as good as our new solution. However, there is even more research going to help even longer storage times. Up to 6 hours, even in saline, regrowth is very good but longer than that causes problems. This is a concern because most clinics can finish 2000 grafts within 6 hours but 3000+ grafts will take a lot longer but the regrowth rate will go down, in effect, actually killing off some of those important follicles.
