US forces were committed to Iraq in 1993. What people fail to remember is that we were conducting combat patrols to enforce the ‘no fly zone’ for a decade before we invaded.

March 16, 2003. I will never forget this day, because my husband was waiting in Kuwait for almost 4 weeks waiting for the order to cross the border. The reason was because Saddam had refused to allow inspectors in after intelligence was gathered regarding WMDs and the UN failed to enforce the sanctions previously placed on Iraq after Desert Storm. After several warnings, and chances to allow inspectors in country, the US took matters into our own hands. It was not directly related to 9/11.
