pH1N1 vaccine for pregnant women – FactSheet What is the recommendation for an individual who had the H1N1 flu?

The vaccine is not recommended for individuals who had laboratory-confirmed (e.g. positive nasal and throat swabs) H1N1 influenza earlier in the year. These individuals will have developed natural immunity to the virus. If an individual wishes to be immunized there is not contraindication for doing so. The BC Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommends giving the pH1N1 vaccine to individuals who had a suspected H1N1 influenza but was not laboratory confirmed (e.g. nasal and throat swabs).
