Photography question – What type of paper do photography studios use to print pictures?
Photo Studios use hundreds, or even thousands of different types of paper for their work depending on what their clients want, the processes they will be using to produce the print and the usage of the finished product. Paper has many properties including base, color, texture, weight, finish and surface coatings. And sometimes the process being used to make the print will determine what can be used while at other times their will be a wide variety of options. Also, the type of equipment being used may determine what choices are available (for example if paper is being fed through a continuous feed processor the paper will usually be limited to stock that is available in rolls of the appropriate size). In addition many photographers have preferences for brands, colors and textures to distinguish their prints from competitors.
