Planning to buy an aircon but I’m not sure how to get started. Do I just choose one that I think would work best for me?

Or are there more steps before finally choosing what specific air conditioning unit to get?

With the many advantages that air conditioning brings, it’s no wonder that more and more people are considering getting aircon units for their homes. But before you click “buy” on that particular unit you think would work best for your home, it helps to consider the following factors:

  1. Your location: The climate in Australia varies from location to location and this means that your specific area might require specific features in an air conditioning unit. What is the general condition in your area? How hot can summers get? Is the air quality generally humid? Knowing these things will allow you to have a set of features that you should be looking for in an aircon.
  2. Real Estate Factors: This is one of the most important considerations you need to look at. Do you own your home, or are you renting? If it’s the latter, what are the specific terms and conditions in the contract concerning air conditioning units? Make sure everything is clear regarding this matter so you’ll know what options you have. It’s possible that for a rented property, the landlord may have an existing agreement with a particular brand or installer and if that’s the case, your options are more limited.
  3. How You’ll Use It: Just because your house is big doesn’t mean you need a large air conditioning unit. It could be that you’re mainly using one room in the house and if so, you’d be better off with a smaller, simpler one. Do you live alone or with other people? Are there several common areas in the house that would require air conditioning? Are there many members of the household and do they each have rooms of their own? Are the members fine with a centralised temperature or do they want to have control of the temperature in their respective rooms? Knowing these things will help further narrow down your options.

Aside from these, you also have to consider the cost and how the installation will be carried out. The good news is you can get in touch with an expert from Actron Air to discuss costs, installation, and even the other factors mentioned above, so you’ll know more about ducted air conditioning, multi-split systems, and your other options.

What is your question?
