Playing at Sacred Heart, was Silver Lake a big rival at state-tournament time?
Half the time I was there, we were 2A so our competition was Moundridge, not Silver Lake. I was asked in my interview, if I played Sacred Heart would I try to win. I said, ‘Heck yeah.” You’ve been around several strong programs, has that shaped you as a coach? “I’ve had so many coaches in my life, in all different sports. I think I’ve taken bits and pieces from all of them. I was coached by my mom (former Sacred Heart and current Salina South coach Mary Pat Weese) and she’s given me a big insight to different aspects of being a coach. You take bits of pieces of what you like and bring your own into it.” You’ve been a part of three softball and a volleyball state titles. How does that fuel you as a coach? “I look forward to experiencing that as a coach. It’s the same feeling, but just a different experience.
