Programming for Kids: What is the best way to teach kids to learn programming?

GAMES. I don’t think there is a better way than games. There just isn’t. I learned programming when I was 11 out of a game programming book that taught how to use Blitz3D. It’s simple, sure, but it teaches you all the same algorithms that modern, grownup programming requires. The new version of Blitz, BlitzMax, is even more modular and object-oriented, just like its fellow programming languages. These languages are perfect for kids, because they’re easy to use, it’s real, actual programming, and the results are instantly gratifying. Another way is by teaching robotics, because robots are just awesome to kids (well, and to everyone else). I wouldn’t say this is the “best” way, though, because of all of the resources involved. It would be much more difficult on the teacher if programming were taught through robotics. If you are teaching kids programming at a very young age (0-9 years), they probably won’t be able to do enough to get interested in it. I don’t think kids can be interested
