People who were strong believers in Christianity played part in colonisation/invasion of many countries, assimilation and loss of culture and life in the native peoples of their colonised areas and such. Delaying the acceptance of scientific discoveries such as when astronomers such as Galileo had evidence that the Earth revolved around the sun and not vice versa, because their conclusions were considered heresy against the church. Oh, and a whole lot of pretty churches and names based on biblical names and stories.
