No—for several reasons. The main issue is that NBLC is a church-planting church and Andy is in charge of our church-planting efforts. Focusing him inward at NBLC would sabotage that purpose and potentially waste the work he’s already done. In addition, Andy is not yet ordained and therefore doesn’t have the credentials he would need to perform the official ministerial functions (e.g., weddings) the VVLT hopes will take less of Pastor Joe’s time in the future. Will Pastor Joe still do weddings? Absolutely. But sharing that ministry with another pastor will free up more of PJ’s time to focus on Worship. We’ve identified our Worship/Celebration event as the major way we’re attracting the unchurched and de-churched people we serve. That’s why we’re calling worship our “sweet spot” and giving it a central place in our strategy as a congregation.

Rather than calling an administrative pastor, couldn’t we just ask Andy Yount to take on more duties at NBLC?
