Respite care clients are required to have a new assessment for their placements annually. Does this constitute a new placement, as a new assessment/review is undertaken?
SCC/001a covers having a care plan at the beginning of the first placement. As this will not be an annual event for the non-respite care cases, there is no obvious argument for counting one each year for the respite cases. The new assessment that you mentioned refers to the need to update the original assessment as part of the review process, which applies to all LAC and should be an ongoing process each time the child’s case is reviewed, to ensure that the child’s needs are being met. Therefore as long as the episodes of care are part of a continuous planned programme then only the initial episode would be counted. Q: For those children who did not have a review at four months but later on in the year, can the authority include these in data if a plan for permanence was completed within the first four months of admission date (i.e. By the due date even though 2nd review not was undertaken (in some cases) for some months after.
