Retailers who sell their own branded products, and companies who assemble component parts, which are then sold on as a branded product are also classed as producers. How much WEEE do we have to collect and recycle?
There are two targets set under the WEEE Directive: collection targets and recovery/recycling targets. Ireland, along with other EU member states is required to collect at least 4kg of household waste per inhabitant per year (About 16,000 tonnes per annum). There is no collection target for collection from business customers.
