Sarah, how did you balance writing (and promoting) London Almanac 2010 and having a personal life?

Sarah: I didn’t have a personal life! Writing the London Almanac 2010 was a full time job – but I also have a full time job as a features writer for Real People. So I’d finish at the magazine around 6pm, eat my dinner as I turned on my computer at 7pm at home, then work till 1am, six nights a week, for five months. I wrote the book on my annual leave as well, and on Christmas Day – after I’d opened my presents. I just had Sundays off to relax. Everything else – socialising, hair cuts, doctor’s appointments – went out the window. But it was worth it. Diverse Traveller: Describe one of the weirdest / strangest things and one of the most surprising things you encountered while travelling around London for London Almanac 2010? Sarah: It was great learning more about the city. Londoners have so much right on their door step, but lots of people don’t take advantage of what they’ve got.
