school to determine the grade placement?
The school should follow the procedures used when enrolling a previously home-schooled child, a child from another country or from an unaccredited private school. The school district or charter school should ensure that campus administrators make a good-faith effort to place the student in the appropriate classes. The Texas Education Agency is currently working with Louisiana State Department of Education Officials to identify a means for accessing state level information available concerning Louisiana students that could then be shared with Texas school districts enrolling Louisiana students. Further, at Commissioner Neeley’s request, a team from the Louisiana Department of Education will be arriving in Austin on Tuesday, September 6, to assist Texas educators in determining the most appropriate placement and services for students evacuated from Louisiana.
