Selling my house – question about property value…?

It won’t directly increase the vlaue of the house. It will make it much easier to sell. You can counteract that, get it back into the ‘this house is a tough sell’ area, by raising the asking price. Price and speed of sale are related in housing. Your can sell quickly with a low price. You will sell more slowly if you raise it. NEVER, if the price is too high. I suspect from your realtor’s comments that he thought the original price was too high. Now that the basement is fixed, he’ll stand a better chance of selling, so it’s up to you if you want to delay it, perhaps making a sale very unlikely, or leave it as is and get it sold. Tough call, really.
