No. Only active Medi-Cal or CHDP providers can register their NPI with Medi-Cal. However, if the contractor is a covered entity, as defined by the NPI Rule, they must apply for an NPI and their NPI must be included on all claims the direct provider submits to Medi-Cal for reimbursement.  more
