To work efficiently the filtering system should be in continuous operation. Otherwise the pond water could get dirty again after just a few hours. In addition if the filter is not in constant operation, the bacteria and micro-organisms in the filter mats, which are necessary for biological filtration, die off. Consequently we recommend 24 h continuous operation for filters!
