Should a juror be a paid profession?

0

Absolutely not! Making juror a paid profession would make it much easier for lawyers to put together a “stacked” jury because in most cases, trial records are matters of public record. It would then be a simple thing for lawyers to research prior verdicts and choose jurors on that basis. Saying that we’d have “smarter, more educated people” making the decisions is ludicrous. Many people don’t attend college or get a degree, and that often has nothing to do with whether or not one is “smart.” It also would make it nearly impossible for much of our society to get a fair trial.
