Should alcohol advertising in sports be banned?

You could make the point that sport needs all the funding it can get to promote lower leagues/entry levels of different sports and as tobacco advertising has been outlawed ,cutting off another funding stream will leave more sport at the mercy of big satellite television companies who pick and choose which sport they promote as they are only interested in sports that are only already popular and have an already established viewing market. Banning alcohol sponsorship will have the same minimal effect on usage as dropping tobacco advertising. The banning of alcohol sponsorship in sport while still allowing very low priced drink on sale in suermarkets and off licenses is an exercise in being “seen” to be doing something rather than actually doing something that will promote responsible use of alcohol. Many argue that alcohol sponsoship of sport is indirect marketing at children-the removal of alcohol sponsors names from junior sized replica shirts and off the mascots used at sporting event
