Consumers should rely on common sense and have no need for concern about emissions from unflued gas heaters. Australian heater emission standards are the most stringent in the world. All AGA certified products are safe and comply with the Australian Standards emission guidelines. In fact, there are a number of unflued products in which the emission levels are substantially lower than the Australian Standard. Unflued gas heaters produce very low levels of emissions into the home, but this may affect some people with certain allergies1. If so, a flued heater should be considered.
