Should Crufts be banned?

No, Crufts should not be banned based on one biased television programme. Ever heard of throwing the baby out with the bath water? Just because a small proportion of the breeds exhibited at Crufts need their breed standards re-evaluated by the breed clubs, it does not follow that all breeds should be prohibited from being exhibited. Reputable breeders breed for both the function and form of their chosen breed and should not be penalised. Pressure should be brought to bear on the breeds that would benefit from changes to their breed standard.

Pam the problem isn’t health testing it’s inbreeding (aka linebreeding) a practice carried out by the very top breeders. You are causing the health problems you end up health testing for. You need to stop! Yes Crufts needs to be banned, it’s obviously with all the excuses flying around given by breeders that you’re not willing to change. I just hope the government or the RSPCA can force a change for the sake of pedigree dogs.

Crufts is a freak show. If it continues the score will always be Dogs 0 Human Vanity and Greed 1. Little is ever said about the dogs loyalty,or emotional well being, they only perpetuate their sick Victorian criteria, which in turn leads to exploitation. What about a class/section for mongrels, based on their temprament and their integration in family homes.

honey it is not the dog shows the RSPCA are objecting to it is the bad breeding, i used to show my dogs and they loved it, all the attention they got and it was a proud moment when my girl qualified for crufts, she loved the attention she got, so most dogs love the show side, but there does need to be a clamp down on irresponsible breeding, people should be under licence to breed and that way the relevant health checks would have to be done and the dogs would not be bred unless in top health, my old girl still gets excited when she has a bath and when i use a hair dryer she is like a puppy again, so the showing side should not be banned, but something does need to be done on the breeding side, all people who breed without the proper health checks should be banned from breeding it is just irresponsible owners need to start to think of their dogs not the trophy’s
