A. Documents related to the planned radiological protection program for construction, operation, monitoring, and closure are required to be included in the license application. Use of radioactive tracers during site characterization is permitted by 10 CFR 63.16. Pursuant to 10 CFR 63.111 activities conducted in the repository operations area must meet the requirements of 10 CFR Part 20 including the Part 20 record-keeping requirements. Plans for monitoring and controlling radiological effluents and occupational radiation exposures during other phases of site operations are required by 10 CFR 63.21 and 10 CFR 63.112, in addition to Part 20. Radiological engineering requirements for the design and maintenance of ventilation, monitoring, control, alarm, and shielding systems are required by 10 CFR 63.112.
