Should I be worried about my Creatine Kinase reading?

This happens to most people taking statins. A normal value is between 90 and 200. A value over 200 usually indicates muscle damage and you may experience pain or weakness in the big muscles such as thighs, calves, buttocks. Actually, a raised level of CK often indicates a recent heart attack (myocardial infarction) but your statins would be the real explanation. It is nothing to worry about so the nurse is right. If the CK value gets over 400, like mine did, then walking can become difficult and/or painful. I just changed my medication from simvastatin to atorvastatin and the reading fell, as well as the symptoms easing. People seem to react differently to the different statins. OK?
