Should i become a Dental Assistant or a Certified Nursing Assistant?

Becoming a CNA is good only when you are interested in serving people, as the job of a CNA mainly involves caring and assisting people. Also, if you want to make a long term career in health care and want a job fast, then you can go for CNA. Since, there is an increasing demand of quality CNA’s there are brigth career prospects for you. But, if your interest lies in none of these then you can opt to become a dental assistant.

Unless you have a drive/dream/goal of getting into the nursing field (specifically long term care), there is a good chance that you will NOT like being a nurse’s assistant. Basically, as the person above nicely pointed out, your job will consist of doing all of the “dirty work”. And in the US, training is short, but the pay is “crap” too. 😉 (In Canada our Continuing Care Assistant/Health Care Aid/Special Care Aid programs are typically 7-10 months, and pay where I live is about $17.64-18.69 per hour if you work in a government (public) run facility. This varies with the health region). If you can get your training paid for, and want a job fast, then yes, that is one reason to become a nursing assistant. Even if you quit and hate it, no money was wasted. Only time. This would be a good choice if you are considering nursing. It’s a good way to get a feel about interacting with patients, among other things. But if you have plans to go on to other fields, I suggest dental assisting. Typic
