Should I keep one male and female guinea pig together?

If your male guinea pig has never been around any female guinea pigs, he most likely won’t fight with another boy. There’s no reason for them to fight if there are no girl piggies around. I’ll admit, having a litter or two is fun, but once all your friends and family get a pig from you, it gets harder and harder to find homes for them. You have to care for them until they are ready for new homes at 4 or 5 weeks old. Then you have to continue to care for them until they actually find a home. If you’re responsible, you’ll take your piglets back if the new owners change their mind or are no longer able to care for them. You could end up with a whole extra bedroom full of guinea pigs like I did, and it’s your responsibility to care for them for the rest of their life. If you do decide to get a girl, she has to be bred by the time she’s 6 or 7 months old, but not before she’s 5 months old. The pig’s hips are still growing at that time, if she doesn’t have babies before she’s around 10 month

No, I think you should get a male and just introduce them properly. If you get a female, sure the babies will be nice and cute at first, and maybe you’ll sell a few off, but after a while, you’re going to have too many that no one wants to buy and you’re left with a zoo of piggies in your house. Also, there’s a very high risk of the female dying during birth or pregnancy, so that’s a big sacrifice. To introduce males, make sure its common ground that neither piggy has been on before and give your guinea pigs baths first so they don’t smell as much. Supervise their meeting and if they get on fine, then jolly good :D.
