Should I postpone stocktake as the arrival of the new Y2K OASIS server is imminent?

The server upgrade process has no effect on the stocktake process. However, major stocktake processes take time and the interruption caused by a server upgrade may not be welcomed by some Teacher Librarians. If you do proceed with stocktake and get overtaken by the arrival of the new server, all files will transfer successfully over to the new system. Make sure however that you keep a written record of where the stocktake was up to so that you can proceed from that point once post migration tasks have been completed. As contractors will give schools a minimum of one week notice for the server upgrade, and to avoid disruption, until the new server is installed, Teacher Librarians should consider carefully whether to start any process, such as a full stocktake, which might take more than a week to complete. Smaller schools, and large schools wishing to undertake a partial stocktake may do so before the new server is installed as the process should not be very lengthy.
