Should I take my probiotic supplement on a full or empty stomach?

Probiotics that aren’t enteric coated are generally best when taken with food. The main reason is because the food helps to reduce the high acidity of the stomach so the probiotics are less impacted by it. Typically, an empty stomach has acid around a 1 on the pH scale… putting food in it could bring it up to a 3 or a 4 pretty easily. The less acidic it is, the more likely that more of the probiotics will survive to reach your intestines. As far as time of day, it doesn’t matter as long as it’s taken daily by the bottle’s recommendations. Many people find it easiest to take it with breakfast, though. It will definitely help defend against yeast… with the others, it depends on the cause, but it couldn’t hurt. It won’t specifically force you to go to the bathroom more, but it’s common to have looser stools for the first couple days or so. If you’re already regular and eating plenty of grains, it shouldn’t cause much of any problem. Good luck and I hope I helped!
