I think that if the pain is really bothering you you should tell the doctor the truth. But I live with chronic pain and after a while the painkillers just stop working. So I stopped taking them and now I hardly even notice the pain and when I do take pills now they are working much better than they did before. So if the pain is not that bad it might be better to let some of that immunity to pain pills start to cycle out of your system. But by all means if it is just that bad risk looking like a junkie if need be and try getting something that will help you. 12 is also right there are usually alternatives that actually work on HEALING what is causing you pain. It may not be the most attractive short term solution but is usually better in the long run. I know it does not really apply to this instance with the bug bite because I’m sure the Doc is treating that but it is good advise for any other sort of pain in the future. And yes I am well aware of what codeine is and how strong it is. I
