Much as I’d prefer people not to say things like that, I don’t think it should be illegal. The problem with making certain viewpoints illegal (apart from the moral right to think whatever you want) is that it tends to give those viewpoints “victim” status – which can actually increase support for a cause – as a persecuted minority – whereas just left to it groups with such ridiculous viewpoints, whilst they’ll always have a small number of supporters, tend to act as their own bad publicity. Similar to the BNP – you don’t need to ban them because hearing Nick Griffin speak for five minutes is enough to put most sane people off supporting him.
