I’d say the fact that they are executing somebody means that they take this very, very seriously. The entire country depends economically on exports to the US, and so the mere fear of the potential boycott and intensive regulatory scrutiny is causing them to make changes. Those changes aren’t done yet, and if you’re really afraid, then avoiding Chinese products might help. But I think you’ll have a hard time identifying all of the products of Chinese origin. The short answer would be that almost anything inexpensive will be Chinese: that’s why we buy so much from them. Their workers work very long hours in poor conditions for not much money, and Wal-Mart passes the savings on to you. (Many other companies do as well, but Wal-Mart is the largest single importer from China.) If you have the money to spend, you can insulate yourself by buying only American products.
