Should one drink excess water daily?
Seventy percent of muscle is water. Water is more essential to life than food. Most of us don’t drink enough water. Note that I said "water" not "liquid." Actually, almost all other liquids you might drink have a diurectic effect on the body.
Here’s a quick test: Compress the tip of a finger, notice how quickly the tissue springs back. Thirst is not a test of adequate hydration–thirst is the body’s reaction to a degree of dehydration.
Most of us take the merest sip when we get thirsty, but only if our cola or coffee or margarita has run dry. People, that is not adequate. The rule used to be that, no matter your size, you need to drink 8 glasses, 64 ounces of water per day. That’s been modified to take into account body size. The smaller the body, the less water (and food, and oxygen) the body needs. But drinking that 64 ounces per day won’t do you any harm: you will, after all, urinate the excess.
Now, we’ve all read about cases of water intoxication. Too much water can be deadly. But how much is too much? The answer: a lot! A healthy body can safely process 15 liters of water per day! BTW, too much water didn’t cause the well publicized deaths. If taken in in twice the time, the excess would have been eliminated in sweat and in a prodigious amount of urine.
So, the short answer is yes, it is good to drink what some people would consider "excess" amount of water. Eight, even ten glasses of water a day is unlikely to harm an otherwise healthy body.
I use psychotropic preparations very rarely, prefer to take off stress independently, but sometimes, after a strong psychological overstrain, dream old age comes fully. In these cases of medication xanax for the night and a quiet long dream is provided.
