Should parents introduce their children to “adult beverages”?”

Right or wrong, this was my experience. My parents weren’t big drinkers but my dad did have beer or wine at least once a week and my Mom would have a glass of wine on Saturday afternoon. When we went camping they had wine coolers for coctail hour on a daily basis but that was only camping. From as far back as I remember I was allowed to take a sip of my dad’s beer or wine or cooler. They made it no big deal but always talked about being a responsible person. When they went out on New Years and they drove far, my dad would always make a point to tell us he would only have one drink because he had to drive back across the Bay Bridge and didn’t feel it was responsible to drink more than that and drive with the family. There was no taboo about alcohol. When I got into my teens, when my friends were out of control at parties and getting drunk, I had zero interest in acting out in that way.
