Should Sarah Palin Defend Dr. Laura Schlessinger?
Dr. Laura Schlessinger left her long-running radio show after delivering a racially-charged response to a caller asking about mixed-race dating, claiming that the ensuing backlash and criticism of her use of the n-word violated her First Amendment rights. But she has at least one person on her side: Sarah Palin. The former Alaska GOP governor is defending Schlessinger, posting on her Facebook page, “Does anyone seriously believe that Dr. Laura Schlessinger is a racist?” Schlessinger used the n-word 11 times after being asked the question by the caller. Palin also defended the now-former radio host on Twitter. “Her intention in discussing the issue with a caller seeking advice was not to be hateful or bigoted,” she wrote. “Though she did not mean to insult the caller, she did, and she apologized for it.” Palin also questioned whether there is anyone who isn’t “accusing all conservatives, Republicans, and Tea Party Americans” of being racist.
