Should the birch still be used to day and on who?
The short answer is YES.The ASBO’S now used are a badge to the young and they know that NO ONE can do anything to them.The parliamentry commission has just recomended that even if a person has an asbo against them they should not be sent to prison so where is the DETERENT.When someone is found guilty of a crime the sentence has two functions.one is to DETER from further crime the other is to REHABILITATE.We have now thanks to various pressure groups got rehabilitation but no deterent.Many years ago a friend of mine was birched and years after in the 1980’s he said that if the birch were used then crime would not be as rampant and in the future the way things are going people will eventually rue the day they went soft on criminals he said when you were birched you didnt want a second helping you were DETERED.Do you think he had the gift of foresight because his words are now true we live in a society that only cares about the rights of the offender and not the law abiding.The law abidin
