Should the queen give buckingham palace to ex-service personnel who are homeless?

Buckingham Palace belongs to the State, and as such is not the Queen’s to give to anybody. Also, there is no reason for anyone in this country to be homeless – that is what we have social housing, benefits, charities etc. for. I agree we need to give more support to those leaving the armed forced, including a lot more psychological help, but even if Queenie did hand over the keys, what would it be more than a token gesture? It wouldn’t actually help – what would help would be helping ex-forces getting their own house (council flat or otherwise) and getting the mental help they need to deal with such a dramatic change from being in the army to being a regular civilian. I fail to see how handing over Buckingham Palace could be anything other than pointless propaganda.
