Sinus CT Scan Results, What does Minimal Mucosal Thickening Mean?

0

Minimal mucosal thickening is a very common finding. It basically means that the mucosa lining the sinus is a tiny bit thicker than it should be. This can be normal for some people, but may represent some very minor inflammation or scar tissue from prior infections. Depending on which sinus it was, it may or may not have anything to do with your tooth pain. If it was in the maxillary sinus on the side of your toothache, it could be causing the pain. It’s nothing to worry about as there is no need to treat it. It’s not an acute sinus infection. I see mucosal thickening in about every third head CT I look at, so it’s very common.
