The Southern Colonies.

Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, New York, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey were free.

Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia were slave owning states.

Much of the time slaves from the British Empire were more common to be found in their homeland. Such as; Africa, India and Australia.
