Yes and no. If you mean, is she the new “leader” of Rapture, and is the game’s plot focused on her ideology, and is she the main antagonist during the beginning of the game, then yes, she is taking Andrew Ryan’s place. If you mean, is she the best video game character since Link, then no. Sofia Lamb is very important in Rapture’s history. She was Ryan’s political rival before Fontaine. Why she was not mentioned in the first game is one of the many riddles you will have to piece together during the story. The devs did make a point to say, however, that Ryan’s audio diaries will characterize her before you actually meet her. Interesting. Lamb is an Altruist. She believes that everyone has a role to play in the world. She allows this belief to corrupt her, and it eventually grows into a cult, led by Father Whales, called the Rapture Family, which teaches unity and brotherhood among all splicers.
